3M acquires health care technology business for $1 billion

Maplewood-based 3M Co. announced Wednesday that it is acquiring the technology business of a Tennessee-based health care firm for $1 billion. The deal involves M*Modal, which is based in Franklin, Tenn., and provides physician documentation, transcription and related medical records services with “cloud-based, conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered systems.”
