Keith A. Parrott, FACHE will assume the lead role on January 13, 2020.

AMITA Health announced Keith A. Parrott, FACHE as its new chief executive officer (CEO) Monday afternoon.

The hire comes less than four months after CEO Mark Frey announced he was stepping down from his role at the Lisle, Illinois–based Catholic health system.

Frey had led the system since its creation in 2015 following a merger between Ascension's Alexian Brothers Health System, based in Arlington Heights, Ill., and Adventist Health System, based in Hinsdale, Ill.

Randy Haffner, PhD, board chair at AMITA, called Parrott an "astute executive" known for his leadership of high-performing teams and work with stakeholders to "implement key strategies."

"Keith is a mission-focused leader who has a history of producing sustainable results that enable nonprofit hospitals to meet community needs," Haffner said in a statement.

Parrott, who most recently served as CEO of the Alabama/Tennessee Group of Tenet Healthcare, will assume the lead role on January 13, 2020.

“I’m looking forward to meeting and working with the associates, caregivers and providers who make AMITA Health a leader in bringing compassionate, personalized care to individuals across the region,” Parrott said in a statement.

Prior to Parrott's hire, Karen Springer, executive vice president of performance optimization and nursing operations for Ascension, and Eddie Soler, executive vice president of finance for AdventHealth, split the role of interim co-CEO.

In February, three AMITA Health facilities were named among Healthgrades' "America's Best Hospitals."
