Forsyth Medical Center lawsuit over Medicare reimbursements may be settled

Attorneys for the top health official in the Obama administration expressed confidence Tuesday that a Medicare settlement will be reached with Forsyth Medical Center and 22 other hospitals nationwide. The hospitals, through individually submitted lawsuits, have accused the secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services of failing to enforce certain regulations covering Medicare payment reimbursements. Forsyth, along with other Novant Health Inc. affiliates, began its legal pursuit in June 2010. Forsyth re-filed the complaint in May in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
