The annual healthcare finance conference was scheduled to take place in San Antonio from June 28 to July 1.

The Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) announced Thursday that it canceled its in-person annual conference this year due to concerns surrounding the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The annual healthcare finance conference was scheduled to take place in San Antonio from June 28 to July 1. Now, HFMA is looking to host its annual conference as a "virtual experience."

"The HFMA team is already at work assembling a timely session lineup, and all HFMA members will be able to attend and earn CPEs at no charge. More details will be released in the coming weeks," Mary Mirabelli, FHFMA, senior vice president of content strategy and delivery for HFMA, said in a statement.

The decision came over a month after HIMSS 20, the annual meeting of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), was canceled due to fears about COVID-19.
