Pay package for Jackson's CEO to be set

The pay package of Jackson Health's new CEO Carlos Migoya is expected to be hammered out at a committee meeting of the public hospital's governing board this morning. Eneida Roldan, the present CEO, gets paid $665,000 a year. A compensation committee of the Public Health Trust, the governing body for Jackson Health System, agreed to offer the new CEO "up to $975,000" but the decision came only after heated debate in which Miami-Dade Commission Chairman Joe Martinez said he would object strenuously to the troubled system paying that much money. Migoya last week told reporters he was willing to take considerably less than Roldan's current salary, but might ask for incentive bonuses to kick in if he turned the system around. Jackson lost $244 million in fiscal 2009, $93 million in $2010 and is projected to be on a course to lose $103 million this year.
