Reading Health System (PA) to begin offering health insurance plans

The Reading Health System will begin offering health insurance plans to Berks County residents and employers starting in 2017, hospital officials announced Monday. For years, the health system has cared for patients and received payments from insurers for doing so, but this announcement puts the hospital in new territory. "I've always felt that as a health care provider, we can help manage the cost of care across the continuum, from the total cost of care rather than the episode of care," said Clint Matthews, president and CEO of Reading Health System.
