With a second successful payroll, Ellwood City hospital looks to move past recent troubles

For a beleaguered community hospital, it was a glimmer of hope after a dismal beginning to 2019. On Friday, Ellwood City Medical Center met its $230,000 biweekly payroll for a second consecutive pay period, disbursing full paychecks to its 150 employees on time after weeks of handing out minimum wage checks with a promise the balance would be made up later.
