Stanford Health Care and Anthem Blue Cross at odds over new deal

With their existing contract set to expire at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Stanford Health Care and Anthem Blue Cross of California were busily negotiating a new deal over the weekend, spokesmen for the health care provider and insurance company said. Late Sunday both sides said there was nothing new yet to report. While unable to divulge the exact sticking points of the dispute, the parties expressed hope that some kind of agreement would be reached soon, preventing a situation in which many Anthem patients may not be covered for services received at Stanford. Once approved, a new contract would define prices and other details which would allow Anthem patients to keep their visits to Stanford Hospital and other clinics in-network.
