The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced that Tennessee could keep some of the "clawback payments" that it owes for Medicare prescription drug coverage. The decision means TennCare may be able to reduce some of the nearly $1.2 billion in cuts called for in its budgets for 2010 and 2011, The Tennessean reports. The 2009 budget for TennCare calls for cuts in 25 areas, including capping many TennCare recipients' annual benefits at $10,000, limiting them to eight outpatient procedures, and eliminating coverage for speech, physical, and occupational therapies.
