The unfinished business of health reform: Lower costs, better care

Don Berwick, MD, president and CEO of the Cambridge, MA-based Institute for Healthcare Improvement, is currently working with Atul Gawande and others to identify regions of the U.S. that deliver quality medical care at costs lower than the rest of the nation. Richard Moore, the state senate chair of the joint committee on healthcare financing, also said Massachusetts is slowly taking steps toward payment reform which should ultimately control the rising cost of healthcare, reports WBUR.org from a national conference on healthcare reform in Boston.
