University of Cincinnati med units propel growth

The teaching network of healthcare and hospitals built around the University of Cincinnati's College of Medicine added $4.8 billion to its local economy and supported more than 55,000 jobs last year, according to a new report. Advocates say training doctors, nurses and researchers not only attracts talent and research dollars to the Cincinnati area, it improves the health of everyday people. Earlier this year, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center estimated its impact at $2.7 billion a year.
