FDA OKs novel device for non-invasive treatment of spinal cord injuries

The market for these devices could be substantial. Spinal cord injury affects over 15 million people globally, including more than 300,000 in the United States. These injuries can dramatically impact a person’s quality of life, and rehabilitative therapy is often a patient’s only option. In recent years, electrical stimulation has emerged as a promising tool to provide relief and restore function with a small zap. The gains are often modest, though, which is why Candy Tefertiller, a neurological rehabilitation clinician in Colorado, was thrilled with the results from the ARC-EX.
