Incorporating this larger pool of data into an organization will become critical as the landscape evolves into a more outcome-based approach. According to the report, data can serve as a "powerful weapon" in the fight for constraining costs, but today's data tends to be trapped in silos. As a result, the benefits of informatics have largely bypassed the patient.
