A health chip is part of a broader move by Apple into healthcare

It's no secret that Apple has designs on the healthcare market. At the device maker's annual shareholder meeting earlier this year, Apple CEO Tim Cook signaled a broader interest in the field, saying that the company was in a "great position" to innovate because it wouldn't be reliant on reimbursements from insurers or federal programs like Medicare and Medicaid.
