Mass General Brigham is planning to replace its biggest inpatient building at Brigham and Women's Hospital, modernizing the campus in Boston's Longwood neighborhood. Officials at MGB, the state's largest hospital network, announced on Tuesday that they want to replace the 50-year-old Braunwald building on Francis Street. That building has 564 patient beds, which are mostly in shared patient rooms. MGB officials said they will begin planning the building design this fall, with input from clinicians, patients and community members. They said the goal is for the new building to be complete "in the 2030s."
