MA doles out $10M in 'Robin Hood' hospital funds

The state's Health Policy Commission has announced the first round of grants as part of a plan to redistribute funds to smaller regional hospitals and health facilities throughout Massachusetts.The money for the four-year program comes from assessments levied on well-heeled insurers and hospitals. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts paid nearly $73 million into the fund. Partners HealthCare, parent of Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, paid $42 million into the fund.
