Data aids Medicaid detectives in Georgia

Georgia investigators are collecting millions more dollars each year as they catch more Medicaid fraud and mistakes, and increasingly the sleuths rely on computer data analysis to spot fishy-sounding Medicaid claims among the hundreds of thousands made annually to the state. In fiscal 2009, the state recovered $26 million lost to Medicaid fraud and mistakes. That's $10 million more than the $16 million recouped in 2007, Department of Community Health figures show.
