The Greater New Orleans Community Health Connection, which provides health services to about 53,000 people through regional clinics, is four months away from going broke. The New Orleans Advocate reports there's no clear plan for keeping the program running. It wants $9 million to keep it running for another year. The initiative began with a post-Hurricane Katrina federal grant to provide primary care to uninsured people. In 2010, that program was replaced with the Greater New Orleans Community Health Connection, funded by federal Medicaid money.
