Opinion: Why was Tri-City Medical Center CEO pushed out?

Moran, a peripatetic health care CEO, is not talking publicly as he plays the top-secret severance game, a combination of high-stakes poker and contractual grand theft. Less than a month ago, however, Moran was talking a blue streak about his love for Tri-City Medical Center and its “stellar medical, nursing and administrative staff.” In late February, Moran was named 2016’s “Most Admired CEO” in the business nonprofit category by the San Diego Business Journal. But I’ve been told by sources who spoke on the condition they not be identified that a few weeks ago groups of nurses and doctors expressed to the board concerns about Moran’s leadership.
