Court filings show that Robert Naftaly, a former top Blue Cross executive, will head up the board that will soon manage billions of dollars in health benefits for retirees from Ford, GM and Chrysler. The naming of six of the 11 members of the voluntary employee beneficiary association board comes as the UAW and automakers move to finalize the creation of an independent trust to pay for the union retirees' healthcare costs. The automakers will put about $52 billion into the trust, ridding themselves of about $88 billion in estimated future health costs.
