One year later: Suits involving five doctors, Children’s Hospital proceed

One year ago: Two doctors who treat seriously ill babies sued Children's Hospital Central California in federal court, accusing the hospital of stifling competition.

The doctors said the Madera County hospital refused to let them use its facilities because they helped start a rival neonatal intensive-care unit at Community Regional Medical Center in downtown Fresno.

Drs. Stephen Elliott and Krishnakumar Rajani also sued three doctors in Fresno County Superior Court for breach of contract -- and were countersued. The five doctors were former partners in a medical practice, Perinatal Medical Group Inc.

Today: Both lawsuits are slowly winding their way through the court systems.
