Filipinos make up 4% of nurses in the U.S., but 31.5% of nurse deaths from COVID-19

Nurses of Filipino descent comprise just 4% of the US workforce, but nearly a third of registered nurse deaths due to COVID-19, according to a new report from the National Nurses United union. NNU estimates that 1,718 healthcare workers have died due to the disease and related complications, including 213 registered nurses. The largest non-white ethnic group to die of the disease was nurses of Filipino descent, who account for 31.5% of the workforce's COVID-19 deaths.
