This week the health system announced it reached a definitive agreement with Trinitas, as well as numerous c-suite promotions as part of a "strategic realignment."
New Jersey-based RWJBarnabas Health and Trinitas Regional Medical Center reached a definitive agreement, Wednesday.
The announcement comes one year after RWJBarnabas signed a letter of intent to acquire the 554-bed acute care Catholic teaching hospital and its affiliates.
Through the acquisition, RWJBarnabas stated that it will make “significant investments” in Trinitas and expand the “network of outpatient services currently provided” by the organization. The medical center will remain a Catholic institution.
"We are increasingly confident that the path we are taking toward integration with RWJBH is the right one for our institution and our community," Gary S. Horan, CEO of Trinitas, said in the press release.
"Trinitas is a vital resource to the communities it serves, and we intend to greatly expand its excellent care to residents of new communities in northern and central New Jersey," Barry H. Ostrowsky, CEO of RWJBarnabas, said in the press release. "When joining together two entities with such similar missions and goals, the opportunities are enormous."
c-suite moves
In addition to the Trinitas announcement, RWJBarnabas made several leadership changes this week.
On Tuesday, the health system announced several executive promotions as part of a "strategic realignment" for the health system.
Headline changes
- John William Doll now serves as chief financial and administrative officer.
- Mark E. Manigan now serves as chief strategy and business development officer.
- Michael E. Knecht now serves as chief marketing and communications officer.
- Patrick Knaus now serves as executive vice president, system strategy.
- Deb Lienhardt now serves as executive vice president of business development and innovation.
Doll will also serve as chairman of the health system's newly created strategic council. Manigan, Knecht, Knaus, and Lienhardt will join him on the strategic council.
Additional moves
- Stephen O’Mahony, M.D., F.A.C.P. now serves as senior vice president, chief health information officer.
- DeAnna Minus-Vincent now serves as senior vice president, chief social integration and health equity strategist.
- Deborah Larkin-Carney, RN, BSN, MBA, now serves as senior vice president, quality and patient safety and patient experience.
- Gail Kosyla now serves as senior vice president, system financial operations.
"Over the last seven months, our leaders, physicians and staff have cared for our communities under truly extraordinary circumstances," Ostrowsky said in a statement. "This realignment will allow us to better serve New Jersey through a more concerted approach to population health management and a nimble platform that can quickly adapt to the pandemics and emergencies of the future."
