The Board of Directors of Akron General Health System today named Thomas L. Stover, MD, MBA, as the System's new President and Chief Executive Officer after former President and CEO Vincent J. McCorkle resigned. Dr. Stover has been with Akron General since 1993. He has served in leadership positions since 1996, most recently as the President of Outpatient Services. Until January 2010, Dr. Stover was the Medical Director of Akron General's Health & Wellness Center in Montrose. In 2006, Dr. Stover was appointed President and Chief Medical Officer of Partners Physician Group. McCorkle resigned following a brief leave of absence due to a serious health condition so that he can spend quality time with his family.
