Moving to a full implementation of MyChart billing led to more than $1 million in revenue on aged accounts by simply making old balances visible and easy to pay.

When INTEGRIS Health implemented full MyChart billing in its Epic system, it automatically pulled in years-old balances and made them visible to patients. Patients logging in were notified of past due amounts, and that was enough to get them to pay.

Before any marketing or other outreach efforts, INTEGRIS collected more than $1 million within a month on accounts older than two years just by "the simple fact of putting it in front of somebody and making it easy to pay," according to Mike Lorenz, Revenue Cycle Director at INTEGRIS.

In this episode of HL Shorts, Mike Lorenz explains the unexpected results of the tech rollout.
