About 200 nurses at Community First hospital in Portage Park go on strike

About 200 nurses at Community First Medical Center in Portage Park went on strike Monday, citing safe staffing as a top concern. The nurses are part of the National Nurses Organizing Committee/National Nurses United union. They became part of the union in December 2019 and have to been negotiating to secure their first contract. The strike is scheduled to last one day, until Tuesday morning.
