Central Illinois black nurses group advocates for patients - and themselves

Race and healthcare have a dark history together. The 1932 Tuskegee Syphilis experiment is perhaps the most infamous example, when over 100 innocent black men were infected with the disease and died from its effects. Racial inequity in healthcare continues, albeit in different forms. Poor communication, bias in medicine, and restricted access to treatment options are claims most commonly reported by minorities when talking about their experiences in healthcare.
