Nursing staff shortages leading to burnout at Cooley Dickinson Hospital (Oct. 1) was a foreseeable situation even before the pandemic.
CDH spent a lot on advertising against a 2018 “nurse-to-patient ratios” ballot measure, and the consumers (potential patients) voted along with the hospital management not to implement such ratios. So the public helped create this dilemma and owes it to all the medical people to step up to the plate and take responsibility.
