House set to vote on ending government shutdown

The House will be in session today for the first time in 54 days, with all eyes on a vote to end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. The House is expected to hold first votes shortly after 5 p.m. ET on Senate-passed legislation to reopen the government with a final vote after 7 p.m. today marks the 43rd day of the shutdown, shattering the previous 35-day record. House Speaker Mike Johnson, on Monday morning, had advised members to begin making their way back to Washington as travel delays persist across the country. The House has been out of session since Sept. 19.
