As Republicans face attacks for cutting Medicaid funding, Dr. Oz blames states with big cities

The Trump administration is reframing the steep Medicaid cuts in Republicans' tax bill to pit states with large urban centers against those with large rural populations. Last year, Republicans passed Trump's signature legislative accomplishment, a bill that partially offset $4.5 trillion in tax cuts over a decade with more than $900 billion in cuts to Medicaid. Democrats are using those cuts, along with the expiration of enhanced premium tax credits for people who buy ACA marketplace plans, to attack Republicans ahead of the midterm elections. Republicans are countering that attack with their own, evolving messaging on health care. President Trump is emphasizing deals he has cut with drugmakers to lower prices, and he announced the launch of TrumpRx last week as the centerpiece of that effort.
