The American Medical Association (AMA) recently released a free tool to help clinical staff determine appropriate CPT® and HCPCS Level II coding for COVID-19 vaccines and vaccine administration.

The new tool allows providers to determine appropriate CPT/HCPCS codes for COVID-19 immunizations by inputting information on the vaccine manufacturer (Moderna, Pfizer, or AstraZeneca) and dose (first or second). The tool also provides information on applicable National Drug Codes used by third-party payers to identify the vaccine’s labeler/vendor and package size.

The free tool is available for use on the AMA website.

A complete list of CPT/HCPCS codes for COVID-19 vaccines and associated payment allowances is available here.
