Cancer treatment facilities spreading in St. Louis-area

The H.W. Koenig Cancer Center, a $9 million facility, is set to open in September 2008 on the SSM St. Joseph West campus. The facility will bring cutting-edge care to the outskirts of the St. Louis area, and is also the latest example a change in the way the healthcare industry combats cancer: By taking treatment to the people. Cancer care is increasingly no longer contained to hospitals and academic institutions in urban settings as smaller satellite offices and treatment centers continue to take root.
