DMC plans layoffs but won't reveal how many job cuts

The Detroit Medical Center is laying off part of its workforce after eliminating 300 jobs last year, officials confirmed Wednesday. Spokeswoman Tonita Cheatham did not respond to a question about how many employees would be cut and when the layoffs are expected to end. The decision was not prompted by recent cost-cutting measures by its for-profit owner, Tenet Healthcare of Dallas, DMC said in a statement.
