Efforts to ease doctor fraud law may fall short

Health law attorneys say federal regulators may not go as far as some hope in relaxing a law that doctors and hospitals believe is standing in the way of better care for Medicare patients. The Stark Law, also known as the physician self-referral law, prohibits doctors from referring Medicare patients to a hospital or other health care facility if the doctor or an immediate family member has a financial stake in that facility.
