Exeter Hospital sues company for role in hiring man behind hepatitis C outbreak

The hospital is suing a company for its alleged role in hiring the man who is responsible for the outbreak. In the lawsuit, the hospital said the American HealthCare Services Association, based in Michigan, was negligent in placing David Kwiatkowski at Exeter Hospital and that it should've investigated and reported any prior illegal drug diversion and use.Kwiatkowski is serving a 39-year prison sentence for stealing painkillers -- including fentanyl -- and infecting dozens of patients in multiple states with hepatitis c through tainted syringes.
