Georgia hospital CEOs: COVID-19 may be stabilizing in Athens, but not its neighbors

The spread of the new coronavirus in Clarke County may have stabilized, but a surge of COVID-19 cases may be building from surrounding areas that lagged in enacting social-distancing measures, Athens hospital CEOs said Monday. “The shelter in place (ordinance) seems to be having some sort of effect,” said Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center CEO Michael Burnett. “We are seeing a little bit of surge now in communities around us.”
