The president of Harris County's hospital district has been pushed out after a decade-long run as its leader. David Lopez, who since 2004 has led Harris Health System, formerly known as the Harris County Hospital District, will see his contract end on July 8. According to the Houston Chronicle, a special meeting of the board of managers of HHS was called June 9 to officially vote down a contract renewal for Lopez. It was reported that Lopez was looking at the CEO position at Dallas' Parkland Memorial Hospital earlier this year, but Lopez said in February that he had not been chosen for the position.
