David Shimp began leading the Osceola Regional Medical Center on December 13.

A new CEO has been announced for the HCA North Florida Division's Osceola Regional Medical Center.

David Shimp, who has served in leadership roles for the HCA Healthcare System over the past two decades, took on the lead role of the Kissimmee, Florida hospital last Monday.

Shimp succeeds Davide Carbone, who announced his retirement earlier in the year.

Osceola Regional Medical Center is one of the North Florida Division's largest facilities with over 400 hospital beds, is a designated Level II trauma center, serves as a teaching hospital, and serves more than 100,000 patients a year.

"David exemplifies the highest and most admirable qualities as a healthcare leader and operator, and I am confident he and his team will serve our Central Florida communities with great dedication and a focus on healthcare excellence," Richard Hammett, the president of HCA Healthcare North Florida Division, said in a statement.

Shimp previously served as CEO of HCA Healthcare's Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, where he lead growth in its clinical programs and facilities. Prior to that, he served as COO of St. David's Medical Center in Austin, where he led numerous strategic, clinical, and operational initiatives.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to join the HCA Healthcare North Florida Division and become the new CEO of Osceola Regional Medical Center," Shimp said in a statement. "Our healthcare professionals are invaluable to our communities. The pandemic only further solidified this fact as our caregivers and those who support them are heroes as they battled through each wave of Covid19. Iā€™m beyond honored to lead this talented group of healthcare professionals and Osceola into a bright future with our mission front and center - above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life."

This announcement comes four months after Jason Cunningham was announced as the medical center's new COO.
