Health care workers voice concerns about hospital staffing at Eureka City Council meeting

Lesley Ester, a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and union representative for the California Nurses Association, was one of many speakers who expressed deep concern over the state of affairs for patients and staff at the hospital during public comment at the Eureka City Council meeting Tuesday night. “I don’t feel like we’ve taken a good step in terms of safety for the hospital,” Ester said of the recent layoffs at the hospital.
