Maine House Speaker Gideon's healthcare plan targets Big Pharma and insurance, doesn't include Medicare for All

Calling access to affordable healthcare a “basic human right,” Maine House Speaker Sara Gideon last week unveiled her senate campaign’s health care agenda, which includes support for a public option but falls short of endorsing Medicare for All. The agenda, announced Aug. 25, contains six broad categories for policy reform, including expanding access to rural healthcare, fighting the opioid crisis and protecting reproductive rights.
