A months-long tiff between two Northeast Florida health care giants has come to an end, and a new hospital is on its way to Jacksonville's Westside. Memorial Hospital and St. Vincent's HealthCare settled on an agreement this month to allow development of the West Jacksonville Medical Center, an 85-bed acute-care hospital that will be run by Memorial, hospital officials said. Development looked definite in late 2009 after Hospital Corporation of America Inc., Memorial's parent company, based in Nashville, TN, received a Certificate of Need from the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration approving construction of the $100 million to $130 million hospital.
