MemorialCare Medical Foundation's previous COO, Laurie Sicaeros, will lead the health system's growth initiatives in her new role.

MemorialCare, an integrated health system serving California's Orange and LA counties, recently announced a new chief strategy officer and leadership academy dean for the organization.

Laurie Sicaeros, a "prominent healthcare executive," will take on the role of leading the health system's growth initiatives, which currently has over 225 care locations, 15,000 employees, four hospitals, a health plan, and a medical group.

"Laurie's significant contributions, deep commitment to MemorialCare, and excellence in operational and business strategy and cultivating innovative partnerships, uniquely qualifies her as chief strategy officer," MemorialCare President and CEO, Barry Arbuckle, PhD, said in a statement. "Over the last 25 years, Laurie has achieved exceptional success with a ‘can-do’ style and extraordinary leadership in pivotal initiatives that transformed MemorialCare from a hospital system to an integrated health network."

Sicaeros, who has worked with MemorialCare for over 25 years, took on her most recent role in 2018 as COO for MemorialCare Medical Foundation, a physician organization focused on value-based care, that she helped establish in 2010.

She also previously served as senior vice president of physician integration from 1997 to 2011, according to her LinkedIn profile. Previously she served in business development, mergers and acquisitions, and physician practice alignment management roles.

Her achievements include utilizing EHR integration to link physicians and outpatient centers to MemorialCare hospitals, as well as expanding the health system's ambulatory network footprint.

"I'm honored to be named MemorialCare's chief strategy officer and continue my work with our remarkable physicians, employees, and communities," Sicaeros said in a statement. "MemorialCare has been a big part of my life and career, and it's exciting to help advance our vision of continuing excellence."

Recently, MemorialCare was recognized by U.S. News & World Report, where the system's Long Beach Medical Center, Orange Coast Medical Center, and Saddleback Medical Center were named 40 times in 22 clinical categories as part of the America's Best Hospitals list.
