New health care strategies paying off for Topeka-area providers, patients

A fundamental shift in the way health care is provided is paying off for patients and the bottom line at some Topeka-area providers. Officials with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas, Stormont Vail Health and the University of Kansas Health System St. Francis campus said programs designed to reward value-based care over volume-based care are resulting in decreased emergency room visits and hospital admissions, as well as cost savings.
