Employees at Rhode Island Hospital will vote on Wednesday to allow their union, Teamsters Local 251, to issue a 10-day strike notice. Members of the union will vote during three meetings on Feb. 18 at the Local 251 Union Hall in East Providence. The meetings will be held at 8 a.m., noon, and 4 p.m. More than 2,200 Lifespan employees are members of the local, which launched the Campaign for Good Jobs & Quality care in September. The campaign's purpose is to negotiate improvements on union issues such as job security, wages and benefits. Workers also want to improve upon proposals that have been suggested in the past to address concerns about patient care.
