Stimulants Increase Risk of Arrhythmia in Children With ADHD

The use of methylphenidate (Ritalin) in children and youth with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) was associated with a statistically significant increased relative risk of abnormal heart rhythm shortly after the start of treatment -- particularly in those with congenital heart disease, an observational study showed.
