Why Medicare head Seema Verma thinks you should shop around for plans this year

No one ever said managing your health care would be simple. Even people eligible for Medicare can find themselves faced with some tough decisions, particularly during open enrollment, which this year runs now through Dec. 7. Anyone who has Medicare can opt to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, and this year 94 such plans are available in Indiana. Medicare Advantage plans offer an alternative to traditional Medicare in which a private insurer contracts with the government to provide benefits.
