Papa Inc. is facing a flurry of contract terminations by health insurers for next year, following extensive allegations of abuse from its workers and the elderly who rely on it.
A Florida Senate panel this week backed a proposal that would allow veterans' spouses to qualify to live in state-run long-term care facilities for veterans.
Now that the U.S. government has stepped back from issuing vaccines, long-term care operators have yet to start administering shots to protect one of the most vulnerable populations.

His background includes a tenure as Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to the President at the American Dental Education Association (ADEA).
Earlier this year, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp proclaimed September 10-16 as Direct Support Professional Week. “We provide that service to them in their homes so that they are in a safe environment in which they can integrate with the community and also continue to learn and be the best individual that they possibly can be,” Barkley said. Approximately 20,000 Georgians are employed as DSPs. Direct Service Professional week is a show of appreciation to DSPs that brings awareness to the shortage of DSPs in the field.
A state department wants a better insight into the needs and challenges of family caregivers in West-Central Illinois. “We’re talking agencies, individual caregivers, anybody that’s ever provided care to someone. We want to hear from everybody,” said Chris Spohr, caregiver and engagement specialist with West Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging. Caregivers across West-Central Illinois face a variety of challenges with adult daycare services and transportation as two of the biggest needs.
