Nowhere in the state is the patient-centered team care movement growing faster than in central Ohio, said Dr. Ted Wymyslo, the director of the Ohio Department of Health. Access HealthColumbus, which is coordinating a local patient-centered primary-care collaborative, anticipates that by the end of 2013, 350,000 central Ohio patients will be cared for at 71 practices that have adopted the approach, which until the past couple of years had been slow to catch on in Ohio. Statewide, there are 153 practices recognized as patient-centered medical homes by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, up from 104 in December, according to the state's health department.
