Miami-Dade County, FL, leaders and Jackson Health System's governing board questioned the accuracy of the numbers Jackson executives are using in their calculations on how they're closing the system's huge deficit. County Manager George Burgess noted that many of the estimates came from a mid-April projection prepared by PricewaterhouseCoopers. "These numbers came from a consultant's proposal [while] trying to get an engagement. This concerns me." PwC is in the final stages of negotiating a two-year, $10 million contract as Jackson Health System attempts to reduce a $230-million budget deficit for fiscal 2010, the Miami Herald reports.
