A new audit of Jackson's international marketing expenses for a single month has revealed questionable expenses including $735 in supplies sent to the chief executive's home and $980 in local transportation passes for employees. "Some things here appear to be bad judgment," said Angel Medina, vice chair of the Public Health Trust, which oversees Jackson, after he heard the report during Tuesday's day-long committee meetings. The internal audit was ordered by Chief Transition Officer Ted Shaw to examine the October expenses of Foundation Health Services. The nonprofit group was getting about $7 million a year from Jackson until an October report from Miami-Dade's inspector general criticized "wasteful spending" and the county commission demanded Jackson stop using FHS. Jackson executives are now reviewing all FHS expenses over $25 as the Trust seeks to transfer FHS operations to a new entity that will be staffed by virtually all FHS employees.
